About Us

We are a group of 8 seniors in Gems American Academy, UAE, Abu Dhabi. As part of our English 12 course, we decided to create a website to spread awareness regarding inequalities in disabilities. Also, we wanted to provide useful and knowledgeable information that everyone can benefit from.

The Sustainable Development Goals are 17 goals created by the United Nations in hopes “to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.” Out of the 17 goals, we chose to work on Goal 10 called Reduced Inequalities. The aim is to “reduce inequalities in income as well as those based on age, gender, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic or other status within a country. The goal also addresses inequalities among countries, including those related to representation, migration and development assistance”.

We believe that disability awareness and the lack of disability etiquette and resources is a major inequality issue that must be addressed. We want to show the rest of the world the daily struggles that disabled people go through that we don’t even think twice about. Situations that we consider to be normal, simple, and common, such as using public transportation or the bathroom, are very scary, difficult, and tough for those with disabilities as they’re not provided with proper facilities and resources and aren’t treated with etiquette by others.

Everyone deserves equal opportunities, facilities, resources, and treatment in life. Raising awareness about disability is the first step into achieving that and reducing inequality on a local and global scale.
